Welcome To the Chapel
You Are Welcome Here!
The Amelia Plantation Chapel is a Christian fellowship serving Amelia Island residents and visitors from all over the United States and the world. We welcome visitors vacationing, attending conferences, playing sports, or attending other events in the area. The Chapel is designed to blend into the environment of oak and palmetto hammocks, water, and the surrounding golf course. The design enables light to fill the Chapel just as we want to be filled with the light and love of Christ. Worship combines a high quality of music, Word, and Sacrament, based upon the Holy Scriptures, centered upon Jesus Christ, and guided by the Holy Spirit. We respect the traditions of all our represented denominations. We desire to care for one another and to encourage one another’s spiritual development and Christian discipleship. We invite you to join us in our exciting journey of faith as we aim to be a “Christ-Centered, Bible-Based, Ministry-Focused” Chapel family.

Our Pastor
Senior Pastor
“Engaging God's world through faith”
Rev. Dr. Ken Jones comes to the Chapel from Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church, PCA, Birmingham, Alabama, where he has served as Shepherding Pastor since 2012. He previously served as Pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, EPC, Franklin, North Carolina (2003 -2012); Montclair Community Church, EPC, Montclair, Virginia (1989 – 2003); and Adjunct Professor, Birmingham Theological Seminary, Birmingham, Alabama (2013 – 2021). He also served as Deputy Sheriff – First Lieutenant, Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfax, Virginia (1989 – 2003). In his duties as Deputy Sheriff, he was called to respond to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the Pentagon. Several of his congregants were at the Pentagon during the attack. The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office recognized him with a Letter of Appreciation for his outstanding and brave service on that fateful day.
Ken was ordained in 1987 in Georgia after finishing his master’s degree from Denver Seminary and later he achieved his doctorate from Birmingham Theological Seminary (2007). His career trajectory has a unique component in that he started as a local church pastor, served as a law enforcement officer for about 14 years, and then worked as a pastoral counselor for 10 years as well. Now he uses these three professional career experiences—serving as a pastor, deputy sheriff, and counselor—to shepherd our 550-member Chapel family on Amelia Island. Also, he’s a chapter contributor in the nationally published book, “The Shepherd’s Toolbox.”
Ken is married to Pam and they are the proud parents of three children and three grandchildren.
