Senior Pastor Search Committee Members
Meet the Amelia Plantation Chapel Senior Pastor Search Committee Members
Senior Pastor Search Committee Chairman
Stan has just completed a three-year term as Chapel Governing Board member and was President of the Board in 2021. He also chairs the nominating committee for three new Board members. He and his wife, Linda, have been married for 57 years. He will be the point person for new pastor applications and will receive, coordinate, distribute, and review them with the Committee. He will respond to each of the applicants and will provide progress reports to the Board. It will also be his responsibility to report to the congregation when a candidate has been chosen.
John is currently on the Amelia Plantation Chapel Board of Governors and also serves as Chapel Treasurer. He has previously coordinated and negotiated the financial issues that are involved in hiring a new Senior Pastor and will lead these discussions and arrangements as we go forward in our current search.
Sandy will keep the records, take meeting notes, record minutes, track expenses, and coordinate meeting dates. Sandy has been a past President of the Chapel Board and is a long-time Chapel member. She is currently serving on Human Resources, Finance, Christian Education, and Fellowship committees and is on the Leadership Team for Community Bible Study.
Jon and his wife, Erin, came to Amelia Island in the fall of 2019. He has enjoyed getting involved with Christian Education at the Chapel and has taught or subbed for Bible classes on Sunday. He is currently a member of the Chapel’s Communications Committee and will serve in the communications role on the Search Committee. His roles will include working with Kayla Murray, Communications Manager at the Chapel, in developing web content related to the search and providing updates to the congregation through Footprints and bulletin notices.
Sue Ann Turner
Sue is married to Henry Turner. They have been Chapel members for 10 years and enjoy attending the second service with its contemporary praise music and relaxed atmosphere. She is on the Outreach Committee in which she is the shepherd for the Jacksonville City Rescue Mission where she has served weekly in the medical clinic, a role she has fulfilled for 15 years. She has also mentored young women through Apples of Gold and has served with Bible Study Fellowship. Her Search Committee roles include planning and coordinating interviews, travel, lodging, and area orientation for pastoral candidates.
Sally will be seeking sources available to search for a Senior Pastor. This will include websites, job boards, and advertising media. Referrals will be sought from those familiar with the needs of the Chapel. She has served on a number of senior and associate search committees at a previous church and is familiar with the process. Currently, Sally serves as Vice-President of the Chapel Board, chair of Christian Education, and a member of the Outreach Committee. In addition, she has been a part of the Amelia Island Ladies Community Bible study since its inception.
